Here is a concept for you - riders around the world, joining forces as a brotherhood, to make a difference in people's lives! I know it sounds like a huge undertaking. But as riders and motorcycle enthusiasts, we all have something in common and we can all join together in this effort to make that difference. Consider Riders United a portal to good deeds!
Our goal at Riders United is to match up individual and groups of riders with efficient and responsible charities who are good stewards in the areas they serve. By offering the means and tools needed for members to make wise charitable choices, we are expanding the trust, offerings, and volunteer time made available to those charities.
We are building a web presence that will be an excellent place to communicate and plan with your fellow bikers. We will provide you the tools to start a grass roots effort in your area. You will have our support, and our help in any way we can provide it. We will help promote your group, event, or need here at Riders United. We will research charities that you may be interested in and offer only those that meet certain guidelines.
Riders United is a group based organization and members may choose to be a part of local, regional, and/or national groups. As a free member of Riders United, you are part of a world-wide group of riders... united to lend a helping hand.
If local groups are not available to a member, he/she may choose to take on the role of a group manager and start his/her own group!
There may already be established organizations that wish to join ridersunited.org to use the website's functionality. These organizations are more than welcome to create a group on the level they see fit. For example, if a motorcycle club serving several states in the USA wishes to use ridersunited.org to plan events, find worthy charitable causes to support, or simply to gain other potential members in the area ,they are welcome to create and manage a regional group specific to the location they serve.
Charities are always looking for ways to help their cause. Charities also vary in size, which makes them a target at the world-wide, national, regional, and/or local levels. Matching up organizations with riders is a key element at ridersunited.org since we are joining forces to "make a difference". Charitable organizations may request resources from Riders United to help them in their efforts. These resources may include volunteer help and fund raising assistance.
As a free member of Riders United, you will have access to all of our Resource Maps. This will give you a visual map of what resource you are looking for and information regarding that resource. If you are looking for a riders group in your area, check the Riders Group Map and join the group of your choice. If you are looking for a Riders United approved charity to support/contact, check the Charity Map. If you are looking for an event to participate in or volunteer for, check the Events Map. Are you setting up an event? Check the campgrounds map to find the perfect campsite and/or the users map to find other riders that may be willing to give you a hand! Don't forget the Event Resources page that contains documents and guidelines that you may find useful.
On top of the maps and tools available on the website, all members will have access to the communication tools that are available now as well as future enhancements. We will provide communication logistics that are necessary to pull off that perfect event or just to set up that Saturday afternoon ride with your friends.
Its always amazed me how folks that appear hard as steel or tough as leather on the outside can come together to help those in need with a soft heart of gold. In the motorcycle community, there is already a brotherhood relationship established between us. You see this while exchanging waves on the road, stories at the gas stations, nods at the rest stops, and handshakes at the rallies. Bikers are unique in that sense, and there isn't another group of people that can come together for a common cause like the motorcycle community can.
You are invited to join our grass roots effort... and lend your helping hand.
Thank you!
Will R.
